Dear Larry:

Thought I had better write a few lines since I hadn’t written you the last couple of days. How are you? Ok I hope. Here everyone is ok so far.

Today is the Children’s Christmas Party at the club, so Tresa and Karl went. Tresa just got home with 4 bags of nuts and candy and a gift from Santa. Karl isn’t home as yet and neither is Dad. I imagine Dad will stay until the last dog is gone. Ha. He didn’t have to work today, but I imagine his day will be busy tomorrow.

Today here is a very cloudy, rainy day. The weather man said it is supposed to snow tomorrow, so maybe  we just might have a white Christmas.

Dear Larry:

I haven’t written to you in a couple of days so I thought I had better get on the ball today and start a letter to you. Joanna is off today so after a bit she is going to drive me to Pay-Less to get some groceries. I didn’t get to the store over the weekend because we went to Cincinnati to the baseball game and didn’t get home till late. I suppose Dad wrote you about the game. He wrote to you Sunday when we got back. He wasn’t as tired as I was because he slept all the way back from Cincinnati. You know Dad, he can sleep anywhere.

Dear Larry:

The kids just left for school so I thought I would drop you a few lines instead of going back to bed like I usually do.

It is cloudy and windy outside today and some of the leaves are beginning to fall off the trees. Sure looks like fall weather here and before you know it, we will be having snow.

Dad went to work this morning after a week of vacation. He didn’t do much while he was off, only messed around out in the garden and he finally did plant some new shrubbery in front of the girls’ bedroom. He also planted a couple on each side of the sidewalk by the street. I will have dad take a picture of it and send it to you.

Dear Larry:

I was going to write to you yesterday but since Carol wrote to you, I thought I would take a rest. As you probably know and Carol wrote you, yesterday was her 15th birthday.  Since it happened to come out on a Sunday, we had a pretty nice day. We started it off by going to the 10 o’clock mass which Karl had to serve. Then, after church I stopped at Pay Less and got a few groceries and when we got home we hurried and went to the Little League picnic which was at the Meadowbrook Park and Karl’s team got a trophy. I baked Carol a German chocolate cake. We had her birthday party when we got home from the picnic. Dad and I gave her $20.00 to buy her some school clothes. I suppose she probably told you that I got her a gift from you. The cake was good and there was only one big piece left over when we started to cut it. I said that if you were home the whole cake would be gone. Carol J—– and Barbara H—- helped eat it.

Dear Larry:

I thought that I would start writing to you right now and if I don’t get it done, I’ll finish it when we get home from church. We are going to the 11:30 mass since Karl has to serve. Joanna just left for the 10 o’clock mass because she wants to lay out in the sun when she gets back. Tresa went to church with Sara because she is going with them to see The Sound of Music this afternoon.

We all went to confession yesterday (Sat.). Joanna didn’t want to go, but she did.

Do you ever attend mass where you are at? You never write about it so I just wondered. I hope that you have the opportunity to go to confession and mass and communion once in a while.

1 P.M.

Dear Larry:

Well, here it is a hot Sunday afternoon. Dad went to Cincinnati with the St. Ambrose bus association to a baseball game. Joanna laid out in the sun after church this morning and now she is getting ready to go to work from 2 till 10 this evening, Carol went to Lake Webster for the weekend with a girl friend (Carol P—–). Tresa went to Aqua Gardens with Debby and Sara. Karl as yet isn’t home from the 11:30 mass, he was gonna go swimming with Tresa, but they didn’t wait for him. And Mom, here she is at home sweating. (boy is it hot). Karl just came home. I guess maybe Joanna will drop him off at Aqua Gardens on her way to work.

Well, Larry, how is everything with you? I’ll bet you’re sweating it out too. We only had 1 letter from you last week. So here is hoping we get a letter tomorrow.

Friday 8:45 A.M.

Dear Larry:

Well, here I am again with a few lines to let you know all is ok here and hoping you are the same.

Yesterday was the Fourth of July, but nothing exciting happened; we were home all day, Joanna laid out in the sun all day and she is sure brown enough. She said she was going to write to you, but she didn’t.

Everyone here is always too busy to write (except mother).

Dad and I took the kids to the Free Fair last night to see all the fireworks. The place was really crowded with all kinds of people. Dad took Tresa and Karl on a few rides. He tried to get me to go on them, but I told him that I was dizzy enough just watching them, let alone getting on the rides. Carol went with us, but she met some of her girlfriends and was with them until after the fireworks were over. We tried to get Joanna to come with us, but she stayed home. She had several boys call and wanted to take her to the fair, but she said she didn’t want to go to the crummy place (you know Joanna). I was telling Dad that if you were home you would probably be there every night. Next year at this time you probably will be.

Dear Larry:

I haven’t [written] to you in a few days, so I thought I had better write to let you know we didn’t forget you. Even though I don’t write every day, I still think about you and wonder how you are doing.

Well, Larry, Madison Heights got beat in the regional last night. It was an over time game and they got beat by Marion 52-51. I will have Karl cut this clipping out of the paper so you can read it yourself. I picked Marion in the guessing contest at Pay Less and for all 3 games the total was 379 and I picked 375. I sure was close but not close enough I guess because I didn’t hear anything. Some lady probably hit it right on the nose. I even got in a pool at the Club but I didn’t win that either.

Dear Larry:

Just got home from Church so I thought I had better drop you a few lines to let you know I am thinking of you. Today is Ash Wednesday and Karl had to serve mass at 7:30 P.M. so Aunt Mary took us to Church and on the way home we stopped at Pay Less and got some rolls for breakfast.  Dad is working at the Club as usual on Wednesday nights. Joanna is waiting for Carol J—– to pick her up and they are going out for a while. Tresa and Karl are already in bed for the night and Carol is still doing her homework.

Hi Larry,

Now I am at bingo helping mommy. She didn’t win yet. Anderson isn’t playing in the sectional anymore because Highland beat them.

This afternoon Carol, Barbra, Karl, Daddy, and George W—– went to the games. Markleville played Madison, but Madison won. Highland played Alexandria, and it was a close game. They had 2 overtimes. Highland won with the score of 71 and Alexandria 69. Tonight Carol, Barbra, Daddy, Karl and Cooney S—– went to Madison playing Highland. I’m for Highland. Continued »
