Wed. evening
Larry,
Hi! How are ya? Just got through painting 4 pictures of mother. I think it insulted her. Well, I better go.
Carol
Dear Larry:
I didn’t want to waste this space so I thought I would finish Carol’s long letter, I just can’t get those big cobelas Joanna and Carol to write to you. (Big cobela mother sure writes to you. – Carol)
Joanna is too damn busy running around and Carol is too busy enjoying her spring break and Dad is too busy going to the Polish Club or his church (as you would say) and Karl is too busy going to track practice at Madison Heights field, so I guess it is up to Mom to do the writing…and Tresa also, but sometimes she is too busy playing with Debbie. So now I am going to say what keeps you too busy?

Monday 8 P.M.
Dear Larry:
Received your letter Friday, but didn’t have time to write to you over the weekend.
Saturday, Jannie H—– got married and they had their reception at the Polish Club, so Mrs. H—– asked me to help out, so I was as the club most of the day, and then in the evening as usual I went to bingo. Sunday, was Palm Sunday so we went to the 11:30 mass. Karl had to serve mass and Dad had to usher, so we got home around 1 o’clock, so I hurried and fixed breakfast and then went to the meeting at the Club. The we had to go to church again for a Bible Vigil. The kids had their religion fair and guess what, Tresa and Karl both won second place in their grades. And here I did’t think they would get anywhere.

Dear Larry:
Not much to write about, but I thought I would drop a few lines anyway to let you know I am thinking of you. I went to the doctor today for my checkup. Its been a year since I had my operation. He said that I am ok, only I am gaining weight again and that is not so good. I just don’t have the will power to quit eating. It looks like I am going to start taking diet pills again.

April Fool’s Day
10:30 P.M.
Dear Larry:
I haven’t written to you in a couple of days, so here it is 10:30 Monday evening. I wanted to write earlier, but I was busy all evening. I had to help Karl and Tresa with [their] religion projects, so after they went to bed I was going to take a bath and write to you, and I got a telephone call from Mrs. H—–. She said they were at Ft. Campbell, KY to visit [their] son Ed and he got to spend the night with them in Hopkinsville. She that he is graduating from basic training this coming Friday, but they won’t be able to go because [their] daughter Jamie is getting married this Saturday.

Dear Larry:
Well, here it is Monday and again there is no mail from you. Dad and I just can’t imagine why you are not writing us. The first letter we got from you was the one you wrote the first Sunday that you were at Fort Sill and that was it. In the letter you wrote that you would write again in a couple of days and here it’s been almost two weeks since we got a letter. We are beginning to get kinda worried. Dad said if we don’t get a letter from you this week he is going to write to the commanding officer and ask why we are not hearing from you. Dad said that you are probably too busy running around in your spare time.

Saturday 6 P.M.
Dear Larry:
Here I am writing to you again. I have been looking for a letter from you all week, but as yet we haven’t got any. What’s the matter with you? Are they keeping you so busy that you don’t have time to write, or are you busy running around in your spare time and can’t find time to write to us? You ought to know that we are anxious to hear from you. Dad said that when you come home he is going to let you use the car just as many times as we got letters from you, and that’s not very many since you went into the service. I was telling Dad that I can’t imagine why you are not writing to us. Are you sick? Please write and let us know the news. There are so many questions I ask in my letters and you never answer them, so get on the ball and write to your family, will you?

Dear Larry:
We may see you before you get this letter, but I thought I would drop a few lines anyway. Today is Dad’s birthday, so we had the usual cake and ice cream and missed you like we did on Karl’s birthday. I got Dad a white dress shirt and that was about it, because we got the new Encyclopedias and the bookcase which we had ordered (and as yet don’t have). We got it last week, but had to send it back because it was damaged, so now we have to wait for another one.

Dear Larry:
I haven’t [written] to you in a few days, so I thought I had better write to let you know we didn’t forget you. Even though I don’t write every day, I still think about you and wonder how you are doing.
Well, Larry, Madison Heights got beat in the regional last night. It was an over time game and they got beat by Marion 52-51. I will have Karl cut this clipping out of the paper so you can read it yourself. I picked Marion in the guessing contest at Pay Less and for all 3 games the total was 379 and I picked 375. I sure was close but not close enough I guess because I didn’t hear anything. Some lady probably hit it right on the nose. I even got in a pool at the Club but I didn’t win that either.

Dear Larry:
Just got home from Church so I thought I had better drop you a few lines to let you know I am thinking of you. Today is Ash Wednesday and Karl had to serve mass at 7:30 P.M. so Aunt Mary took us to Church and on the way home we stopped at Pay Less and got some rolls for breakfast. Dad is working at the Club as usual on Wednesday nights. Joanna is waiting for Carol J—– to pick her up and they are going out for a while. Tresa and Karl are already in bed for the night and Carol is still doing her homework.

Hi Larry,
Now I am at bingo helping mommy. She didn’t win yet. Anderson isn’t playing in the sectional anymore because Highland beat them.
This afternoon Carol, Barbra, Karl, Daddy, and George W—– went to the games. Markleville played Madison, but Madison won. Highland played Alexandria, and it was a close game. They had 2 overtimes. Highland won with the score of 71 and Alexandria 69. Tonight Carol, Barbra, Daddy, Karl and Cooney S—– went to Madison playing Highland. I’m for Highland. Continued »
