Dear Larry:
I just got through with the supper dishes. We had beans and ham for supper and sliced tomatoes. Dad just went to work at the club. He is only going to work until 10 o’clock and then Adam is going to take over. Dad has to be at work a half hour earlier all this week, so he said he was going to come home early, but I won’t believe it till I see it.
Just had a call from one of the women in charge of the rummage at St. Ambrose. They are having a sale this week, so I am going to help them Wednesday and Thursday.
By the way, Larry, so far on my own rummage sale, I have already made $30.00, so that is not so bad. I think that after the election, I will put the stuff in the garage and have the sale there. They are going to vote in our garage Nov. 5.

Easter Sunday
10 A.M.
Dear Larry:
Well, here it is Easter Sunday and as of yet we have not gone to church. We are going to the 11:30 mass because Karl has to serve. So I thought I would start a letter to you and if I don’t have time to finish it, I would write later. Tresa, Carol and Karl all got Easter outfits, I got a new hat, Dad is the same ole Dad, he wears the same thing over and over. Ha. And as for Joanna, she had to be at work at 8 this morning and is supposed to go to St. Mary’s Church at lunch time. I sure hope that you found time to go to church or did you go to that Easter Pageant that I wrote you about?

April Fool’s Day
10:30 P.M.
Dear Larry:
I haven’t written to you in a couple of days, so here it is 10:30 Monday evening. I wanted to write earlier, but I was busy all evening. I had to help Karl and Tresa with [their] religion projects, so after they went to bed I was going to take a bath and write to you, and I got a telephone call from Mrs. H—–. She said they were at Ft. Campbell, KY to visit [their] son Ed and he got to spend the night with them in Hopkinsville. She that he is graduating from basic training this coming Friday, but they won’t be able to go because [their] daughter Jamie is getting married this Saturday.

We think this might be one of the photos that was taken while the Rudolf family visited Larry at Fort Campbell, KY, as mentioned a few letters ago. If this is true then he would be around 20 years old in this photo. It looks like this was taken in a hotel room chair and Larry seems to be sitting pretty casually. He also has no real insignia on his jacket that we can see.

Dear Larry:
Here I am writing to you again. I have been looking for a letter from you all week, but as yet we haven’t got any. What’s the matter with you? Are they keeping you so busy that you don’t have time to write, or are you busy running around in your spare time and can’t find time to write to us? You ought to know that we are anxious to hear from you. Dad said that when you come home he is going to let you use the car just as many times as we got letters from you, and that’s not very many since you went into the service. I was telling Dad that I can’t imagine why you are not writing to us. Are you sick? Please write and let us know the news. There are so many questions I ask in my letters and you never answer them, so get on the ball and write to your family, will you?

Dear Larry:
As you know from Dad’s letter, we got a letter from you yesterday and we were very glad to hear from you and that you had a safe trip to Ft. Sill Oklahoma. Sure glad to hear that you will be having more freedom and time to yourself, just don’t get into any mischief in your spare time. I was telling Dad that having a gym and a weight room is just up your alley because that is something that you always liked to do is lift weights.

Thursday Night
March 13, 1968
9:15 P.M.
Dear Larry,
We got your letter this afternoon and we were expecting it. We wondered if you got there ship-shape with that little jug you had with you. Did you share it with the boys and did it fortify you for the 1 1/2 hour jet trip? About the time you got to Ft. Sill at 10:30 P.M., mother, Carol and I were still awake in the motel. I fixed us a Coke (the kids were asleep) and Carol and I were talking and it awoke mother and she joined in the conversation. I had the tape recorder on and she didn’t know it. We were talking about our visit with you and the beers we drank together.

Dear Larry:
We may see you before you get this letter, but I thought I would drop a few lines anyway. Today is Dad’s birthday, so we had the usual cake and ice cream and missed you like we did on Karl’s birthday. I got Dad a white dress shirt and that was about it, because we got the new Encyclopedias and the bookcase which we had ordered (and as yet don’t have). We got it last week, but had to send it back because it was damaged, so now we have to wait for another one.
