Dear Larry:
I haven’t [written] to you in a few days, so I thought I had better write to let you know we didn’t forget you. Even though I don’t write every day, I still think about you and wonder how you are doing.
Well, Larry, Madison Heights got beat in the regional last night. It was an over time game and they got beat by Marion 52-51. I will have Karl cut this clipping out of the paper so you can read it yourself. I picked Marion in the guessing contest at Pay Less and for all 3 games the total was 379 and I picked 375. I sure was close but not close enough I guess because I didn’t hear anything. Some lady probably hit it right on the nose. I even got in a pool at the Club but I didn’t win that either.

Hi Larry,
Now I am at bingo helping mommy. She didn’t win yet. Anderson isn’t playing in the sectional anymore because Highland beat them.
This afternoon Carol, Barbra, Karl, Daddy, and George W—– went to the games. Markleville played Madison, but Madison won. Highland played Alexandria, and it was a close game. They had 2 overtimes. Highland won with the score of 71 and Alexandria 69. Tonight Carol, Barbra, Daddy, Karl and Cooney S—– went to Madison playing Highland. I’m for Highland. Continued »

Larry,
I just got back from the sectional about an hour ago. It was so neat because Madison Heights won by 15 pts. over Highland. The score was 67 to 52. I felt sorry for Highland because they were doing so good until they met Madison in that final game. They played a cool game with Anderson and beat them in an overtime. Highland also beat Alexandria in a double overtime game. Both of them were barn burners, believe me!
It’s too bad Anderson had to get beat by Highland. HA HA. Well, I guess I won’t rub it in anymore than I already have.

Dear Larry:
A few lines to let you know that we didn’t get any mail from you today. I thought for sure we would get a letter today since you didn’t call Sunday. I was telling Dad that I sometimes think that you didn’t want to write to us. Here you have been there for 7 weeks and so far we only have 3 letters from you in that time. I just can’t believe that they keep you so busy that you can’t even write to your family and let them know how you are doing and what’s happening. I think that is why dad isn’t writing to you. When I was talking to Mrs. H—– yesterday, she said she gets mail from her son and the way he writes they are keeping him busy, but he has time to write to his family. What’s the matter, don’t you have any stamps? I sent you a couple in one of the letters.

Dear Larry:
Here it is Sunday and a cold, sun shining day here. I was thinking that maybe you might call today since we didn’t here from you all week. Maybe after your basic training you may have more time to write to us. I sure hope so. I didn’t get to write to you yesterday . I kinda thought that dad would write to you, but he must have fallen asleep when I went to bingo. Dad and Karl went to the Anderson and Indianapolis Shortridge basketball game last night and Anderson won 63-60. Karl said they played Richmond Friday night and they won that game too. Karl said it was a close game but he didn’t know the score.

Dear Larry:
Just a few lines to let you know I am thinking of you and hoping you are ok. The kids just came home from school. Carol has to deliver papers and Karl is waiting for Dad to come home for he has a game tonight, so Dad is going to take him and is going to watch the game. They are playing the 7th Street School. Joanna didn’t work today, so her and Carol J—– went shopping, at least that is where she said they were going.

Dear Larry:
Just got through with the supper dishes, so I thought I had better drop you a few lines. We had spaghetti and meatballs for supper. Dad took Karl to basketball practice so Aunt Lottie helped Carol with the paper route. The papers were really heavy tonight. Aunt Lottie then stayed and had supper with us and then Dad talked her into going after Karl so he could take a nap before going to work at the Club.

Dear Larry:
Just got through with the supper dishes. Dad went after Karl because he had basketball practice, and then he has to go to work at the club.
Joanna gets off at 6 so I will try to write you till she gets home. It was sure good to hear your voice on the phone sunday. I was surprised that you called so early.
We went to the 11:30 mass. I forgot to tell you, but a week ago, Dad and I went to confession and we were talking to Father Heilman and he asked about you and where you were at. He said he didn’t know you were gone until he seen it in the paper. Also, yesterday Dad and I went to the meeting and everyone asked about you. I was talking to Pat and Andy O—– and they both said they really miss you and they talk about you a lot. Pat was telling me that Eldon M—– is leaving this week. I guess him and John H—– are going together. She said that Mike C—– bought John H—-’s car.

Dear Larry:
Not much to write about, but just a few lines to let you know I am thinking of you. We had lasagna for supper. It was good, only I ate too much and I feel stuffed. Dad went to work at the [Polish] club, he said he would write you a few lines tomorrow night. He got home from the club about 8:30 last night, ate a bowl of bean soup and went to bed. He coughed all night. I gave him hell for drinking, but you know Dad, he probably never will. I think he should have a check-up by the doctor, his cough is getting worse instead of better.
Joanna just took Carol to a basketball game at South Side. Then Joanna and Carol J—– are going to the State [Theater] to see Valley of the Dolls.

Dear Larry:
Even though I don’t get any mail from you, here I am again. I can’t understand why it is so hard for you to write us a letter. You know that we want to hear from you and how you are getting along. I don’t mind you calling home in a while, but we still like to get letters, so get on the ball or I am going to quit writing to you.
McHale’s Navy is on T.V. right now. Dad just left to work at the Club. He finally got a new battery today for the Chevy, it cost him $24.83. Joanna will probably drive it to work tomorrow.
