Dear Larry:

Well, here it is two days before your birthday, so I had thought I had better write a few lines to let you know we are all ok and just hoping that you are the same. By the time you get this letter, you will be 21 years old. I will probably bake a cake and even though you are not here, we will be thinking of you and wonder what you will be doing. Let us know.

It is cloudy and windy here today. The weather man said that it is supposed to rain and get colder and then the rain is supposed to change to snow tomorrow.

I haven’t been writing to you as much as I did, but that is because I have been busy trying to get caught up on some of the work around home. I am making some new curtains for my kitchen as the ones up there now are about shot. I want to finish the new ones, so I can put them up before Christmas.

Dear Larry:

A few lines to let you know that I didn’t forget you. I have been pretty busy the last few days and that is why I haven’t written. I am trying to get some Christmas shopping done, so I won’t be doing it at the last minute.

We are still looking for a letter from you. The last letter you wrote was dated the 18th of November. Are they keeping you that busy?

I am not giving you the devil, I am just wondering.

Yesterday was Dad’s day off so we went shopping. The stores are really crowded with shoppers and they say the weekends are even worse.

Dear Larry:

Well, another day and no mail from you. But every day that goes by I keep hoping we hear from you.

We just got home from one of Karl’s games. They played South Side and got beat, but no wonder, the boys they played looked like giants compared to our boys. They looked like high school boys to me. It seems like about all the games they play, the boys are taller than ours and we just don’t have a chance.

Dear Larry:

Not much to write about but here I am with a few lines to let you know we are ok and hope that you are the same.

We haven’t had any mail from you for a while. We used to get a least one letter a week, but now we are lucky to get one every 2 or 3 weeks. It seems to me that the Army would give a guy time to write to his family and let us know how he is doing. We got the film yesterday so we will probably have them developed in a few days.

Maybe by now you got the cake I sent you. I am anxious to know if it got to you in good shape. It cost more to send the box than what was in it. The gum and shake-a-pudding was from Tresa. She wanted to send it separate  but we thought it would be best to put it with the cake.

Larry,

Hi, what’s happenin’? Zero things are happenin’ around this dead town.

We got off Wednesday for Thanksgiving and Wednesday night, Carol Porter, Sharon Hacker and me got blitzed at Sharon’s house on Bali Hai wine. Thursday, we went down Aunt Mary’s to eat. It was okay. Me and Joanna left at 4:00 P.M. and she took me to Carol Porter’s house. We went out messing around with Sharon Hacker, Paul Lierman and Darrell Songer. We went bowling at Cooper’s. I saw Ron Hill and Denny Williamson there. Ron was home on leave.

Dear Larry:

It is kinda late, but I thought I would write you a few lines anyway. We just got home from one of Karl’s games. They played Leach and won 30 to 29. Karl made the winning point which won the game for them. The 8th grade got beat 84 to 9. (Some score.) Those 8th graders on the Leach team were all big. They looked more like high school boys instead of 8th graders.

Dad didn’t go to the game because he had to work at the club, but I went with Eugene Zagoski and his wife.

Dear Larry:

I haven’t written to you in a couple of days, so I thought that I had better get busy. We received a letter from you yesterday, and as you know, we were very glad to hear from you. Joanna said that she got a letter and also a picture of you.

Sure glad to hear that you finally got Jenny and Ray’s box. Was everything in good shape when you got it? It wouldn’t be a bad idea if you wrote to them and thank them for it. It sure is nice of them to do it and Uncle Ray talks like they are going to send you another box soon. I called and told them that you got the box and they were glad to hear it.

Dear Larry:

I thought I would write you a few lines while everything is nice and quiet. I wrote you last night but I just can’t think of anything to write when the kids are home talking and the TV is on. At least I can think when it’s quiet around here.

Uncle Tommy just left. He is on vacation this week and next. He and Rick are leaving for Ft. Lauderdale., Florida tomorrow and won’t be back until after Thanksgiving. It sure is a good time to go because the weather here is cold. It is snowing out now and there is snow on the roofs and is sticking to the ground in some places. Wish I could send some of this weather to you, but it is impossible, so it looks like you won’t be seeing any snow this winter.

Larry,

Hi man, what’s happenin’?! This is Fri. nite and there are zero things to do except go out and get BLITZED. I think I will, I usually do every once in a while.

Mother has been griping at me lately. Today, her gripe was the fact that she gave me $10.00 down payment for my class ring. My class ring should be tough. It’s yellow gold with aquamarine setting. It’s gonna be cool, I hope.

Have you been doing anything neat lately? Do you ever have a chance to get BLASTED DRUNK over there?

[Paragraph is illegible]

Thomas wrote me and wants you to write to him. We have a bet on the AHS/MHHS basketball game. If MHHS wins, Thomas buys the liquor and we are gonna get drunk. If Anderson wins, I’ll buy the booze.

Well, I better go! Here’s an ugly picture of me.

Be good.

Carol

Dear Larry:

Here it is Thursday evening. Dad is sitting here in the living room. I asked him if he was going to write to you and he said for me to write to you and he would write tomorrow. He said he was going to look for something in the paper to put in with this letter.

Dad took Karl, Tresa and Carol to the dentist this evening for a checkup. Carol and Tresa’s teeth are in good shape, but Karl has to have a couple of teeth filled. The doctor said that Karl should chew sugarless gum because that is what is giving him his cavities.
