Larry – November 1950

Posted on October 12th, 2010

This picture, taken the same day as this one, is marked “11-50″, which we assume means it was taken in November of 1950. That would make Larry almost 3 years old. It must have been a very warm November day for him not to be wearing a jacket. This was probably taken on the outside of what is now Larry’s mother Amelia’s garage.

We don’t have all of the facts, (we’re sure someone in the family will fill us in) but the family lived in what is now the garage until Charlie finished building their larger house. When all of this took place, we aren’t quite sure yet. We’ll update this post when we find out.

That is such a cute picture. You’re right, Daddy built the garage (as a small house) first, while finishing the big house. Joanna, Larry and Carol lived there, and by the time Karl was born, the house was done. Daddy knocked all the walls down then and made it a garage. I used to love Mother showing me the wall markings on the garage floor and telling me stories of where all her rooms and furniture used to be.
