Dear Larry:
Here it is Sunday and a cold, sun shining day here. I was thinking that maybe you might call today since we didn’t here from you all week. Maybe after your basic training you may have more time to write to us. I sure hope so. I didn’t get to write to you yesterday . I kinda thought that dad would write to you, but he must have fallen asleep when I went to bingo. Dad and Karl went to the Anderson and Indianapolis Shortridge basketball game last night and Anderson won 63-60. Karl said they played Richmond Friday night and they won that game too. Karl said it was a close game but he didn’t know the score.
By the way, Larry, I bingo’ed last night. In fact, I hit 2 times. The first time I got $11.00 and then I got on one of the percentage games and I got $60.25 so in all I got $71.25. I really had a lucky streak last night for a change and I say it’s about time. When I got home, I was telling Dad about it and he said that the money will come handy when we get to see you. Dad is going to go to this Holiday Inn in Anderson and make reservations for us, and we are planning on leaving Thursday, March 7th around 9 o’clock in the morning so we will have plenty of time to get there. We thought it would be better to do that then to leave Friday morning the day of the graduation because we would all be tired from the trip. Everyone we talked to that has been at Ft. Campbell says that it takes about 7 hours to get there. As far as I know now we are all coming, but Joanna. She said she didn’t think she could get off that weekend,. We are planning on staying there till Sunday. We decided to make a vacation out of it. I sure hope that we get to see you every day while we are there. That is, if they don’t move you right after graduation. We are all looking forward to seeing you. We will write more about coming to see you and where we will meet you later. Did they ever say anything to your about the graduation and where you will be going? According to the letter we got from the Army, it said that they wont know until the day of graduation where you will be going. I guess we will just have to wait and see.
Well, Larry, I am going to sign off for today as there is not much to write about. I am going to get dad on the ball to write to you. He went to a meeting at the Club this afternoon, so until later.
Love
Mom
(will be seeing you soon)
(P.S. Enclosed is 2-6¢ stamps so write to us.)

Dear Larry,
I haven’t [written] to you for a long time, so I thought I would write now. The Anderson Indians wrapped up two victories to end their season. Friday they beat Richmond by a close score. Richmond’s record was 14-5 and were mentioned by the board of coaches. Saturday night Dad and I went to the Anderson-Indianapolis Shortridge game. Shortridge was rated 8th in the state. It was a close and exciting game from start to finish. Shortridge led with about 36 seconds to go when they made a basket. Anderson then stalled time and Jimmy Woods made two baskets which Anderson led by two. Earlie Dixon wrapped it up when he scored two [free] throws and Anderson won 63-60.
The Indian’s are now 12-9 for the season (the same as last season). Sectional is coming up this week on Thursday, Wednesday and Saturday. You probably are wondering who we are playing. I will tell you. Here are the pairings. On Wednesday, Daleville will play Markleville and Franklin will play Madison Heights Pirates. Thursday evening, Alexandria will play Pendleton and Highland will play Anderson. Saturday’s games will determine the winners. Jack Chowning will try to get tickets for us. I will write to you next week to tell you who wins sectionals.
Truly
Karl R.
